Good day good people. It feels like a good long while since I've done this thing they call blog. In the week and a bit we've been apart I've earned my first months wage (kind of), insulted some Koreans, had a brush with the law and bought a flowery shirt. Tommorrow I intend to get my hippyhaircut (yes one word), open a bank account, insult some small Koreans and then go on my hols!!!
I say I kind of earned my first months wage because I was uncerimoniously robbed of a million Won (half my pay). A deposit my frisbees Mr. Park you selfish man! The journey to the alien registration place was with said money stealer and it was pretty painful. He's the principle at ELL and speaks about as much English as that little old woman you always see on holiday. He asked a stupid question every Korean enjoys asking like "is England in Scotland?". Absolutely nonsensical gibberish from a supposedly educated man, they may as well be American with questions like that.
The insulting Koreans came as part of another night in Seoul. There were quite a few of us white peeps going from place to place in about six taxis. It was inevitable that we would get seperated...this didn't stop me and Craig being very angry about it when it happened. We took this anger and turned it on the local townsfolk. It may seem harsh and rude to come to a country and insult the locals but they bring it on themselves. When you're trying to go to "Hongdae", for example, the response from taxi drivers and pedestrians is a look of utter confusion and a well practiced "ugh?". It makes you think they'd never heard anyone ever speak in any language ever and you're attempting a new form of communication involving chickens. You stand there trying every conceivable variation "Hongdaeaaa", "Hengdae", "Hangdareoup". You later discover it's pronounced "Hongdaeuuueerhh", why not just use some sense and tell us where it is? Or better yet take us there! Yes we were drunk on this particular occasion but it happens all the time...I could go on but I digress. The brush with the law was nothing more than a noise complaint, which in Korea aparently requires two "squad" cars. Bored Korean Policemen wandered around the apartment looking like they expected to find twelve pounds of coke or some rented ladies. They instead found two English blokes and some Irish people having a sing-song after a few beverages. Again I won't go deeply into politics in Korea but suffice to say it's okay to beat kids every day but having a sing is nigh on illegal.
My flowery shirt was purchased today as part of my "looking like a fool on holiday effort" (donations welcome). All being well I'll be sat on a beach very soon with daiquiri in hand soaking up some rays. As I speak however there is yet again a lot of wet stuff falling from the sky so we'll just have to see.
Got some mud festival pics for your delectation this week, bad quality for some reasom but you get the point.
Live long and prosper peeps x

I'm glad there are some pics of the mud festival now. Its not how I expected at all-where is the mud? Also very confused about frisbees and Mr. Park. Was it an actual robbery or some sort of official handing over of money as a way of assuring your place in the country? Please explain.
