Well hello once more. My it's been a good long time since I last did this.
In the last three weeks I've tried to play football, been up a big building and, of course, had students of all ages make me lose the will to live. Am starting to very quickly realise that the wonderful establishment I work in is, like so many things these days, pretty useless. Mainly I think the reason for this is our "supervisor" is obsessed with all things papery and less concerned with the munchkins. I'm sure everyone understands the frustration of incompetant bosses. But trying to tell them how rubbish they are in a different language is hard, when their answer is usually "aaaahh" (the literal translation being "I don't understand what you're saying but I'll pretend I do").
Anyway everyting everything else is still pretty shiny. Am still trying to co-exist with a country full of non-western (the polite way of saying weird) people. But I just have to laugh at the joys of the fruit van, complete with loudspeakers (it's 8 in the morning and NO I don't want any fruit!!!). And I have to remember that it's not their fault they have no clue about the rest of the world. They're just so naive it's scary!!
So onto the football...I went to training a few weeks ago with the promise of a game the following week. So the next week I was feeling all keen and eager to impress. Unfortunately it's hard to impress when you're sat on the sidelines for 90 minutes...Sooo they apologised for not giving me 30 seconds on the pitch and I was promised some game time the next week. So I dusted myself off and accepted that an honest oversight was made and arrived at the meeting place the following Sunday. Only to find that the McDonalds I was told to meet outside was in the wrong part of Seoul. Hmmm I smell a conspiracy brewing...we'll see this weekend, I ain't no quitter!
The big building speaks for itself really I think. I was told it was the biggest in Korea but I'm sure it's not. We also went to the National Assembly, a big ugly building that Korea does best. Twas a nice, relatively cultural, day though so I'm not complaining. The pictures, or at least the means to view them, will be on their way to you very shortly. You can even look at Ris's pictures of his trip to North Korea if you're so inclined.
Well then, that's that. From the tin-pot little country within swimming distamce of Japan I bid you adieu x

Hi Dan - tried to see your photos, but could only find Richard's... what was all that writing on the big rocks about?? Saw your mum the other weekend but was not allowed to mention your name because it would bring on a fit of sobs. Hope you make it to next footie game and get to show them how it's done.

Hi Dan,
Still lovin the blog, picos really impressive. Stick at the footie thing, must have been an oversight. You are really not liking the Korean types and maybe should "walk a mile in their shoes"! To echo Lynne's thoughts the graffiti in Korea is really hard work-no simple spray can for them, but hammer and chisels and filling in substances! You are doin' good stuff over there and you will be back here before you know it-Bye for now. Luv ya!
