Hello once more from the lovely peninsula of Korea. After the last post I got a couple of e-mails asking if I was actually still enjoying myself over here. Obviously I wasn't in the highest of spirits a month back for one reason and another. Let me assure you I'm as happy as Larry, or at least his brother Frank.
Work is as always great in the most part. Love the kidkins but still hold a high level of contempt for my "superiors". The only major annoyance is that I seem to be killing off my kids (not in the literal sense I assure you). First there was the incredibly cute mute-turned-singing girl who did some unknown damage to herself and hasn't been seen since. Now I've somehow seen off the little rascal who began on his first day with "teacher, I love you" and then kicked me. You may think I'd be happy about this but he actually became the coolest little dude ever, complete with "you're welcome" (in a high pitched voice) and an adoration for me that made me weep. So now I just have to busy myself finding a new favorite student...they're either too cheeky, sulky or thick as Irishmen.
T'other weekend I went to an island in the middle of Korea (yeah it confused me as well). More specifically it was an island on a lake somewhere about two hours south of where I am. I went with Annie (another E.L.L teacher) and her Korean friends. As you can imagine I spent most of my time trying to pick out what little Korean I could and drinking lots of soju (the national beverage). On the Saturday night we had an outdoor Korean b.b.q. Which is basically just a lot of meat that you wrap in leaves, nice though. On this night I also recieved an unexpected call on my mobile phone from Mr. Leigh Bennett, a strange experience to say the least. To feel so far removed from England and then suddenly hear a familiar voice on is almost unnerving. Anyway it was definately a nice relief to get out of the city for a weekend and smell some proper air.
My Mommy and Sis are a'comin to see me next week! Hoorah, hooray and other such things!
So I have some pictures of the island and the E.L.L advert. Happy Christmas ya'll!
